Each iPhone gets iOS 26: Is yours on the list?

Apple should soon publish a new substantial iOS version, but as always, some iPhones will not be able to execute the operating system and will be functionally left behind by the Apple ecosystem.

Tim Cook and his friends should reveal the IOS 26 release date at the September Apple event on Tuesday. The new version of iOS brings a multitude of new features, such as the new “Liquid Glass” design language, an improved live translation and a cruelly necessary reorganization of the camera and Photos Applications. As you may have noticed, we have also jumped from iOS 18 to iOS 26, because Apple has adopted a new system of name of the operating system which focuses on years rather than version numbers.

However, this news comes with a little disappointment for some iPhone owners. Each new version of iOS represents a new group of old iPhones which will be effectively cut off from major software updates, thus encouraging their owners to spend money on a more recent iPhone. Here is the list of iPhones that support iOS 26, for those who are curious to know the status of their older iPhones.

The list of iOS 26 compatible iPhones is as follows:

• iPhone SE (second generation and beyond only)

• iPhone 11, pro and pro max

• iPhone 12, mini, pro and pro max

• iPhone 13, mini, pro and pro max

• iPhone 14, plus, pro and pro max

• iPhone 15, plus, pro and pro max

• iPhone 16, plus, pro and pro max

• iPhone 16th

You can also go ahead and a pencil in the iPhone 17, again, too. This means that each iPhone model older than the iPhone 11 is unlucky here. The owners of lines of the iPhone X who obtained iOS 18 last year will have to upgrade at some point if they want to take advantage of the new features that iOS 26 brings to the table. It should also be noted that all Apple Intelligence’s features will still be limited to the iPhone 15 and 16 models (until the 17 is inevitably announced also).
