Emirates has signed a memorandum of understanding with Crypto.com to explore the integration of Crypto.com Pay in its payment systems, marking an important step towards the traditional adoption of cryptocurrencies in the aviation industry.
Emirates’ decision to integrate cryptocurrency payments represents a major approval of digital assets by one of the world’s largest international airlines. The partnership allows two companies to offer innovative financing solutions while strengthening the presence of Crypto.com in the Gulf Cooperation Council region.
Integration should take effect next year following security and compliance examinations, according to a statement Wednesday.
In the announcement, Adnan Kazim, Vice-President and Commercial Director of Emirates, underlined the airline’s commitment to develop customer preferences and digital innovation: “Partnership with Crypto.com to integrate cryptocurrency into our digital payment system reflects the youngest and technicians.
“While we continue to extend the daily use for crypto, integration with exceptional partners such as Emirates will bring real momentum to the digital asset industry,” said Eric Anziani, president and COO of Crypto.com.
Beyond the integration of payments, Emirates and Crypto.com predict to collaborate on promotional marketing campaigns designed to raise awareness and encourage the adoption of cryptocurrency payment options. These initiatives will support customer education and stimulate the use of the new payment solution once implemented.
Several companies based in Dubai in various sectors already accept cryptocurrency payments, real estate developers to the main telecommunications suppliers, creating an environment favorable to the cryptographic payment initiative of Emirates.
