Apple’s new iOS 26 update has been announced at WWDC 2025 and should be presented with the new iPhone range later in the year. The new update has brought a new new design called Liquid Glass, as well as major updates to other Apple applications such as messages, Wallet, Carplay among others. However, there is a new feature inside the Popular Facetime application on iOS 26 which is being revealed.
In the beta version of iOS 26, FaceTime will freeze your video and your audio if it detects someone who undresses during a call, 9to5mac reported.
During the announcement of iOS 26, Apple had mentioned new family security tools for children’s accounts, including blocking nudity.
“Communication safety extends to intervene when nudity is detected in video calls Facetime and to eliminate nudity in albums shared in photos,” wrote the company in a blog article.
However, the new report suggests that this feature can be active for all users of the beta iOS 26 version, not just children’s accounts. It is not clear if it is a planned functionality of the software or a bug in the beta version.
When nudity is detected during a video call, Facetime on iOS 26 beta takes a break and displays the following message: “Audio and video are breaks because you can show something sensitive. If you feel uncomfortable, you must end the call.”
The error message is followed by an option to use the video call or the end call.
Internet users react to apple blocking nudity on facetime:
A user on X by asking for how Apple detects nudity on video calls despite end-to-end encryption, wrote: “I thought that end at the end of encrypted, how do they know this and also the beta 2 to be resolved in September without problem.”
“Now people will think that Apple has access to the content of the video call to guess that it is not their business. No one asked for this idea …. stupid” added another user.
“I would love how it was discovered 🤣,” said another user.
