“ Finding my device ‘has corrected its name, now Android needs better aerains

The “Find My Device” network has suffered from a bad brand long enough. This is why I was happy to see the transition to “Find Hub” this week, but I think Google still has one more pillar to take care of, and this offers better Airtag competitors for Android users.

The “Find My Device” application has not always been what it has been in the past two years. For centuries, it was really an application to find your device, because its only function was to locate other smartphones, tablets and Android watches linked to your Google account. The brand was immediately exceeded as soon as the trackers came into the fray, and even more when Google also added the possibility of sharing user locations.

This is why the new name “Find Hub” introduces this week so much meaning. It is clean and easy to understand, better by suggesting what he is really capable of the previous brand. Although it may seem minor, it helps to better understand what the Google network can do.

But there is still a much more important problem.

Trackers.

In simple terms, Airtag type trackers for Android are a little in disorder at the moment. The network itself improves. Google recently offered real numbers for this, the network being four times faster than it was at launch, and more users activating the parameter “in all locations” which is necessary to make the most of the network. However, complaints still appear frequently.

A recent Thread on Reddit It brought out with a user tracker who does not make a ping in his car for more than 24 hours. I have been in the same boat several times. A case that immediately comes to mind is when I was looking at home my wallet and I decided to try to use the Pebblebee card inside to activate sound to help it find it. He has never connected and never connects to this day. The tracker is fully loaded and always pinging its location regularly, but it never connects to my phone to start an alarm.

This is only an example of many cases where I have encountered what I consider to be unnecessary headache with existing “find hub” trackers. Some do not pass properly into twinning mode, some do not connect reliably to application, and some are not pings as often as others. This is why it is difficult to say if one is “better” than the other, because they have all their own sets of advances and disadvantages.

I would really like to see more recent products contact this. Pebblebee and Chipolo both addressed a point of pain in the development of new materials that work with the Google and Apple networks (not at the same time), and Motorola intensified to be the first with UWB (which will finally be online). But I would like to see trackers who may give up a little battery life for pings and more reliable connections. In the end, however, the only way to get “the brilliant example” of Find Hub Trackers is so Google makes a first part option, which it should absolutely do.

I hope we will see these devices in time. Personally, I am currently testing Mili and Rolling Square trackers, and I am intrigued to see what comes from trackers integrated into suitcases announced this week.
