Rapid summary
Apple will download iOS 26 at the start of next week.
The iPhone 11 handsets will be able to install the new software from September 15.
The AWE Droping event of Apple was filled with announcements yesterday, with the IPhone 17 family unveiled – including the brand new iPhone 17 Air – as well as new AirPods and Apple Watch models. However, something that has not been much mentioned was iOS 26 and, in particular, when it is available for existing iPhones.
Well, by searching the press releases, we were sent by Apple, we spotted a real release date for the new software and its design “Liquid Glass”.
Apple revealed that the final construction of consumers of iOS 26 will be available for download on Monday September 15, 2025 next. There is no time mentioned, but it arrived around 6 p.m. in the United Kingdom in the United Kingdom (1 p.m. Coast East, 7 p.m. Continental Europe).
It is very likely that all other operating system updates will be available at the same time – so iPados 26, TVOS 26, MacOS 26 and Watchos 26.
Will my iPhone work iOS 26?
The list of devices that will be compatible with IOS 26 is quite extensive, so unless your iPhone is over six years old, it is very likely that it will run the new software.
Basically, the compatibility graph begins with the iPhone 11 and the 2nd generation iPhone.
Of course, all iPhones will not get all features. Apple Intelligence is only available on iPhone 15 Pro models and above, after all. Apple also says that certain new features “may not be available in all languages or regions”.
However, it is very exciting that we obtain the greatest design change in recent history, as well as a whole stack of additional functionalities – including dynamic controls, live translation in messages, calls for unknown numbers and some new capacities very well completed in Carplay.
So check your updates on Monday and see if the new software is at your disposal. Head to settings> General> Software update and start the process when ready.
