Samsung Galaxy A73 users now get One UI 8 update based on Android 16
It’s not really surprising that Galaxy A73 users had to wait a bit. For what? Well, this phone is 3.5 years old at this point, so… it wasn’t exactly a top priority for Samsung. Still, it’s nice to see that the update has arrived.
Note that the update has started rolling out in several Asian countries, but it is quickly spreading to other markets. By the time you see this, the update might even be available in your country.
Even when it comes to your country, you might have to wait a bit for it to reach your phone. For what? Well, the update is happening in stages, so it won’t come to everyone at the same time.
The update weighs around 2.5 GB
That being said, this update comes with firmware version A736BXXUAGYJ1 and includes the September 2025 Android security patch. The download size of the update is 2.5 GB.
Your phone will notify you once the update is available, but you can always check manually as well. Simply go to your phone’s settings and navigate to Software Update -> Download and Install.
Note that the One UI 8.0 update is the last major Android OS update this phone will receive. The Galaxy A73 returned in early 2022 with Android 12 on board. Samsung promised four major Android OS updates for the phone, and the company just delivered on that promise.
One UI 8.0 brings a number of visual changes, as well as improved security and a few new features too: Now Brief, for example, is not part of the package. All the core Android 16 changes made by Google are also included.
