Google adds the passage of the managed account to Chrome on iOS

Google introduced A new feature In Chrome for iOS and iPados which allows users to switch between work and personal personal accounts without registering. The update is designed for people using the same mobile device for professional and personal activity, offering separate navigation environments for each role.

Easier switching with data isolation

Until now, users had to disconnect from an account and connect with another every time they wanted to change profile in Chrome. The new update removes this step, provided that the work account is part of a managed Google Workspace environment. Once signed, each account works in its own space, with navigation history, saved passwords and open tabs are separated.

The Google system treats the working profile as a managed session. This means that it follows the rules and policies established by the organization that published the account. Personal and professional data no longer overlap in the application, even on the same device.

When a user signs in a managed account for the first time, Chrome has an integration screen. He explains the separation of the data in place and specifies that the experience is controlled by the organization of the user. This message appears again whenever the user goes to the managed environment.

Respond to mobile working trends

Functionality takes care of a broader change between companies, where the phones issued by the company are replaced by contribution policies. Employees are now counting more on personal smartphones and tablets for work -related access. By improving account change and keeping isolated data, Google aims to take care of this change without increasing the risk for computer teams.

Organizations can choose how to manage existing navigation data when users first connect their managed accounts. For example, they can allow current data to remain intact or require that it is erased in the context of compliance. Users receive an opinion when they enter a managed session.

New corporate features for iOS

In addition to account switching, Google deploys new business tools for iOS. Chrome now includes reporting skills that allow organizations to follow safety -related events on mobile devices. Administrators can access newspapers via the Google administration console or transmit them to external tools such as SIEM platforms.

Google also adds URL filtering to Chrome on iOS. With this feature, administrators can restrict access to specific websites of websites, such as unauthorized generative AI tools. In these cases, Chrome can redirect users to approved internal services instead.

These capacities were already available on Android. Bringing them to iOS now creates a more uniform experience on all platforms for organizations using Chrome Enterprise.

Limited to managed accounts

This update does not offer a complete switching switching for all users. Unlike Chrome on office platforms, where personal users can freely switch between several Google accounts, the iOS version limits profile separation from managed environments. Users with Personal Gmail accounts must always rely on a single profile or use incognito mode, which does not record data between sessions.

The browser manufacturers have introduced various solutions to desktop computers to manage several identities. Firefox uses containers. Safari and the edge label their profiles for different use cases. But few of these features take place on mobile. The addition by chrome of activation of accounts managed on iOS helps to fill this gap, but only in part.
