Google asks Pixel Superfans for help designing new hardware

TL;DR

  • Google is looking for 15 Pixel Superfans to help with its Trusted Tester program.
  • Chosen superfans will have the opportunity to give their opinions on the upcoming Pixel hardware.
  • Their input could ultimately help shape what we get as the Pixel 11.

Who doesn’t like access? Being able to attend an exclusive event or get your hands on a limited availability product can be a real rush. The tricky part, often, is finding yourself in these kinds of special groups in the first place. Google has its own exclusive society of Android smartphone enthusiasts, Pixel Superfans, and this week we’re particularly jealous of the level of access we’re hearing about.

I don’t want to miss the best of Android Authority?

We’ve only just gotten our hands on the new Pixel 10 hardware – with the Pixel 10 Pro Fold in particular just arriving a few days ago – and now we’re already looking forward to the Pixel 11 series devices. Bloomberg reports that Google recently reached out to its Pixel Superfans, looking for a select few to help provide feedback on future Pixel hardware.

If this sounds familiar, it probably is, because we told you about a similar effort Google did with its Superfans last spring, when we were eagerly awaiting the Pixel 10. That time, the company was interested in 25 Superfans attending a hands-on event and invited them to answer a few questions to gauge what they could bring to the program.

But now Google is back, this time looking for just 15 Superfans to join its Trusted Tester program – an even more exclusive group. And while we suppose it’s possible that the hardware they end up sharing feedback on is the handset that becomes next year’s Pixel 11, we wouldn’t bet on any big juicy leaks coming from that program – Google intends to restrict everyone involved with an NDA, not to mention how we imagine it would be pretty easy to trace a leak from a source in this small group.

With all that in mind, the news is somewhat of a tease – unless you’re a very lucky Superfan, you won’t have direct access here. Still, it’s nice to dream, isn’t it, and wonder what it might be like to be part of this special group?

Members of the press are not permitted to participate, so were no such luck, but if you think this label is a pretty good fit for you, you should definitely apply to join you. Who knows? you might also be invited one day to participate in a first look at the hardware.
