Given the ease with which your smartphone takes an image, turns a video or records a vocal memo, it should be much more shocking than many Android users are still struggling to access the basic recording of voice calls. A complicated legal framework certainly does not help things, but a few weeks ago, we found that we hope to improve, because Google has updated its assistance documentation to indicate that the recording of calls arrived on Pixel 6 and more recent devices. Despite this change, user reports really have access to finding – did this happen or not? Today, we finally have an overview of what Google does.
Google highlights some of the various features of the voice call present on Pixel phones, including the new Pixel 10 range. After having traveled things like new fun calling cards, Google begins to talk about the recording of calls:
Even without transcription or taking of notes fed by AI, recording basic calls is a fundamentally useful functionality for certain types of calls. In all the countries where Pixel is supported, calls for calls will be available on Pixel 6 and more recent, for devices that cannot support the functionality of richer call notes. Like the appeal notes, by default, a warning is played to respect the confidentiality of the other caller. This expansion for new countries will take place in the rest of the year.
It is very interesting, because we expected that access is limited to the nation by country, due to the laws on local registration. But from the sound now, Google intends to make the recording generally available wherever pixel phones are sold. We are curious to know if it means that it will be up to users to ensure their own compliance with local regulations or if other limitations can be implemented.
Beyond the recording, we also obtain updates on the detection of the scam and the appeal notes extending to the additional nations. And speaking of the latter, Google Shares that Android Auto is defined to take charge of the screening of calls and call notes at a given time later in 2025. It is an important GET for Android Auto users, and we are impatient to have the chance to try it by ourselves.
