After announcing in May, Google Photos now deploys a major overhaul of the image editor on Android.
At the bottom of your screen, there is a reorganized carousel. An icon of lengths allows you to search for specific capacities, while you also get a complete list of publishing tools with descriptions on this page.

- Marking: Pen, highlighting, text
- Filters: Filters, sky styles
- Lighting: Ultra HDR, Light Portrait, Brightness, Tone, Contrast, Black Point, White Point, Reflections, Shadows, Thumbnail
- Color: Saturation, warmth, shade, complexion, your blue
The following carousel above shows tools in rounded rectangles instead of circles. The value sliders have a new pill -shaped design with a smooth animation when opening / closing.
Above the image overview, you get a framing, an appearance report, flip and rotation controls, as well as cropping. At the top, there are closing / output and recording buttons.
In addition to this new design, a large goal is to make AI easier to access in this first car tab. Improve, dynamic and AI improve to use a “combination of different tools to generate several results”.
Meanwhile, when you press, draw a circle or brush part of the photo, Google Photos will go up a tool list to “change the part and leave the rest of your photo alone”. This includes Magic Eraser, Moving and Reimagine (Magic Editor) for a more integrated experience, although you can always access the Actions tab.
Google has confirmed to us today that this overhaul of the photo editor is now widely available on Android after gradually deployed in recent weeks. This new publisher joins recent visual adjustments such as the redesigned photo viewer, the creation of the tab in the lower bar and the expressive backup indicator of material 3.
