Tl; DR
- Google Play Store is preparing a redesigned account switch.
- A leading line “Switch account” appears under a greeting and your profile photo.
- The functionality is activated by flags in V46.8.29-31, reflecting recent deployments in other Google applications.
In our latest APK disassembly of Google Play Store (version 46.8.29-31), we have found that Google is also preparing to introduce the same renovated account switcher here. The functionality is currently activated via flags, so it is not yet live for everyone, but it shows Google’s clear intention to correct consistency in its applications.
This overhaul modifies the appearance and functions of the account menu. Instead of simply listing all your accounts under your current submenu in a Pulldown submenu, there is now a dedicated “switch account”. The top of the panel always shows your profile photo, your name and your email address, but the image is larger and has a friendly greeting above. Below, you will find your level of playing points displayed in a good place, showing your current points and how much you need to maintain your level for the following year.
Previously, the Play Store account menu showed your current profile at the top with a small traction arrow next to your name and your email. The new overhaul makes the switch more important and consistent with what is already deployed in applications such as cards, wallets and translation.
As always with APK’s demolitions, there is no guarantee when or if this redrawn switch will take place largely. However, with the change now activated behind the flags in the Play Store and already live in other Google applications, it seems only a matter of time before everyone sees the refreshed design.
