Google has published Android 16 QPR2 Beta 2 today, which brings this provisional version to come to the stability of the platform.
“Android 16 QPR2 has published the stability of the platform today with Beta 2″, ” The vice-president of Google Matthew McCullough writes. “This means that the surface of the API is locked and that the applications oriented behaviors are final, so you can integrate them into your applications and take advantage of our latest platform innovations.”
Android 16 QPR2 is the second interim update of Android 16, after QPR1, which was launched in early September alongside the new phones in the Pixel 10 series. When this version brought the Material Expressive 3 to the system, QPR2 will provide an automatic icon theme for the Home screen, an enlarged dark theme, the annotation and publishing of PDF documents, Quick parameters, protection of telephone flight and other updates.
Given the short development time, this second beta version includes only a few new features: developer verification, OTP SMS protection, personalized original screen icons, monitoring native steps and extended exercise data in Health Connect and more efficient waste collection.
But Android 16 QPR2 also marks the first time that Android will obtain a minor SDK version update in which new behaviors are additive and minimize compatibility problems.
Android 16 QPR2 Beta 2 is available for supported pixel devices And via the Android emulator in Android Studio.
