The security update of May 2025 is deployed for Google Pixel devices from today, May 6, and it includes a critical fix for zero-day security vulnerability. The update also includes three bug corrections and 28 total safety fixes for problems affecting Android and Google Services. Business said The deployment of the May 2025 update will continue in next week, according to your operator and your device model, so you may not see it immediately.

“The May 2025 update for Pixel 6 (6, 6 Pro, 6a) and Pixel 8 (8, 8A, 8A) devices contains a start-up charger update that increments the anti-return version for the start-up charger”, Google explain. “This prevents the device from returning to the previous vulnerable versions of the start -up charger. After flashing the May 2025 update on these devices, you will not be able to flash and start the oldest Android 15 builts 15.”
The May 2025 update also addresses three bugs affecting Google Pixel 6 and more recent phones and tablets, as Google explains in the version below:
- Audio
- Correction of the recording quality of degraded microphones in certain applications
- Bluetooth
- Correct for Bluetooth pairing problems with certain smart watches under certain conditions
- Frame
- Secondary language correction displayed in fast parameters under certain conditions
When the update becomes available, all Google Pixel users must install it immediately. You can check the updates by opening the Settings application and navigate to System > Software update > System update and pressing Update. Then follow the screen prompts to download and install the OTA update once available.
