Google’s new AI tool for iOS facilitates understanding of the complex web text to understand

Internet is full of information, but everything is not written in an easy way to grasp. Whether you dive into a medical article, deep technology or academic research, it is common to meet a language that is more confusing than useful. This is exactly the kind of friction that Google tries to smooth with its latest feature: Simplify.

Now, the deployment of the Google application for iOS, Simplify uses AI to rewrite dense or technical text on web pages in something more understandable, all without getting the page. You simply highlight the section that causes you problems, press the Simplify icon and the application instantly generates a clearer version of the content.

Google has built this tool using its Gemini AI model and a text re -evolution approach developed by Google Research. It is powered by Gemini 1.5, a model that Google says is specifically constructed for a “mini-heavy” simplification, which essentially means that it rewrites the text without skipping important details or introducing errors.

An example of the search for Google shows how it works. A sentence like:
“The complex pathology of this condition implies the emphysematous destruction of the pulmonary parenchyma …” is rewritten as: “This condition implies damage to pulmonary tissues in emphysema, a disease that harms air bags in the lungs.”

While Apple already has Apple Intelligence writing tools built directly in iOS 18, offering things such as rewriting, summary and re-recture on native and third-party applications, Google relies instead on the reading support. Simplify is focused on reading the web, especially when you try to understand something new or complex.

There is also a strategic layer to all of this. With the current antitrust pressure from the United States Ministry of Justice for its domination in research, in particular its agreements with Apple, features like the latter can become more important. If Google is ultimately forced to give up its default research position on devices like the iPhone, tools like Simplify could help it retain users by offering something they cannot get elsewhere.

For the moment, Simplify is only available in the Google app on Iphones. There is no Android or office version, and Google has not announced any specific deployment plan beyond iOS. A spokesperson simply said they were looking to extend the functionality to more products in the future.
