The World Developer Conference (WWDC) 2025 is only a few days old to give the world the latest developments of Apple, with the iOS 26 expected to deliver the last for iPhones. A new rumor has surfaced which now gives users an overview of which iPhones are compatible with the new version of the operating system, with the latest changes.
Based on the list, there are several models of the iPhone which will not receive the next IOS 19 / iOS 26 upgrade from Apple, with the next version of the version for certain company smartphones.
Apple iOS 26 compatibility list for iPhones
A new report of Macrumors has shared a new compatibility list for iPhones for this year, in particular with the next new generation version of the iOS which should undergo a name change at iOS 26. The report said that they could not identify the source behind that rumor, but says that the sources is reliable with regard to information on iOS.
Here is the full list of all compatible iPhones that can go to the next iOS 26.

It is important to note that the only devices that were not included here are the iPhone XS series, and this includes the iPhone XS Max and the iPhone XR. These devices would see iOS 18 as their last software upgrade, but would still receive Apple security updates in the future.
The name change of iOS 26 also arrives
The latest rumor also underlines the upcoming name change of Apple for its iPhone operating system because it will no longer follow the regular version order which would suppose it supposedly iOS 19. From this year, Apple will count on the last two numbers of the following year to name the operating system, the version of this year being the iOS 26, etc.
What to expect the iOS output of 2025?
One of the biggest changes for Apple’s outings for this year on the software side is its interface, especially since the company revises its looks and experiences to correspond to an emblematic user interface. A previous leak considered that Apple is preparing to deliver the Visionos user interface to all its other operating systems, including iOS for iPhones, iPados for iPads, MacOS for Mac, etc.
This update would have given users the translucent application buttons and windows that would reproduce the appearance of the Visionos ecosystem, upgrading a transparent transition to the new Apple look.
On the other hand, the previous rumor of iOS 26 also revealed that there would be a battery management function powered by the AI which would anticipate the arrival of the iPhone 17 air, its most thin smartphone version.
At the same time, Apple would also have worked to offer users a faster experience on the iOS platform with the next iOS 19 / iOS 16 upgrade, user interface changes being its most important change here.
