Google has deployed many new software and applications with Pixel 10, including a new newspaper application called Journal. Although we think we are exclusive to the new telephone line, it is not quite true. I downloaded the APK and installed it on my Samsung Galaxy phone without too much problem. If you are looking for a simple and immediate newspaper application, I also suggest you try it on your phone.

How to install Google Journal on a non -pixel phone
Andy Walker / Android authority
For many, Google Journal is not visible on the Play Store, but it is preinstalled on Pixel 10 devices. However, it is not locked on Google devices even if it uses Gemini Nano available to release its full potential. It can therefore work on phones from other manufacturers. To install it, follow these steps:
- Before you can install Google Journal, you will need an APK Split installer. Since we take the APK file from APK Mirror, you can also use Apkmirror installer. Download it from the Play Store to the link.
- Then open your web browser. Visit the Listing Google Journal on the APK mirror and hit the orange Download Apk Bundle icon.
- Now, Open Apkmirror Install> Browse the filesGo to your Download folder, and you will find the newspaper’s installation file with a green APKM logo below. Select it, then press Package.
- Apkmirror installer has announcements, unfortunately. So that you can subscribe to delete ads or Watch the ad and install the application. I recommend the latter.
- Once the announcement is finished, a pop-up will seem to ask if you want to install a newspaper. Choose Install.
- Once the application is installed, press Open application To obtain a journalization.

Without AI, Google Journal nails the basics
Andy Walker / Android authority
If there is one thing Google Journal does well, these are the basics. It may not seem positive, but let me explain to you. Google underlines the functionality of the AI of the application, but many are limited to Pixel 10. On other phones, the absence of these features is actually beneficial.
My colleague Joe mentioned in a recent opinion that this functionality of AI, which creates writing prompts based on past entries, activity data and photos, is the reason why it will not use the application. This feature uses Gemini Nano on the device and currently only works on Pixel 10. You do not have this AI problem on non -pixel devices.
The use of Google Journal on a Samsung phone is an experience without AI.
Of course, Google Journal is as simple as a pigeon nest, but I see it as a positive. Although more powerful newspaper applications follow up on habits, multi-days and universal availability, these features can be overwhelming. Even the notion and the obsidian can feel excessive when I want to note some thoughts. The simplicity of the newspaper allows me to empty my head and write.

Of course, you can use Journal as a newspaper, but it has other potential uses. It can be a useful travel journal, allowing you to quickly include several photos and cards in an entrance. It could also operate as a brain discharge tool, a food newspaper or a more targeted project recording tool.
Overall, I think Google has done a good job with Journal. It is an emerging application, but it looks great in its expressive design of equipment 3 and offers just about everything I might want in a fast newspaper application.
There are still better options for journalization on Android
Dhruv Bhutani / Android Authority
Maybe I would like the simplicity of a newspaper, but you might not do it. There are more established journalization options on Android if you need more features. For example, Journal has no vocal functionality, which seems strange. It is also lacking in monitoring of habits, a characteristic of many lovers of bulletal newspapers consider essential.
Here are some Google Journal alternatives (or useful partners) that you may want to consult:
- Habitica: Gamification tasks and tasks, Habitica Encourages users to do tasks and develop habits. It is not strictly a journalization application, but really completes an application as a newspaper.
- Dayta: With a colorful interface and a concentration on moods, Dayta Helps connect daily mental health activities. As a journal, you can download photos, select a mood and write a brief entry.
- Journey:: Journey is like Journal All Grown, with more organizational features such as tagging, an integrated mood tracker and the availability of the platform beyond pixel devices.
- First day: If you need a collaborative newspaper shared with your family or friends, First day is a great option. It includes personalized writing models and a clean interface.
- Notion: Not strictly a journalization application, the concept is very adaptable and customizable. It offers newspaper models dedicated with habits monitoring options, or you can build yours.
If you don’t have a Pixel 10 phone, I suggest installing a newspaper. The application works well without its integrated AI features and comes to the heart of the journalization. This could be my way in journalization, and I am delighted to see how Google develops and, hopefully, widen the availability of the application in the years to come.
