Is there a solution to Android Toyota Rav4 connectivity problems?
Renea Wilson’s frustration with her Toyota Rav4 2019 is obvious as she turns to her Toyota Rav4 Facebook Discussion group for answers. The lack of car of Android compatibility has been a constant source of irritation since she took the wheel for the first time.
She says: “I think Toyota hates Android. They teamed up with Apple in 2019, and my Rav 4 is only compatible with the iPhone. I hate it. I love my vehicle and I have led a long way to pick it up, but after two years of use of the iPhone, I am ready to sell it so that I can buy one that is Android compatible.”
She likes the car but is looking for answers. Is there a good solution?
Imagine Renea buying a Toyota Rav4, she likes the car, but she will not join her Android phone. The compact SUV came with Apple Carplay, and she doesn’t want to buy an iPhone.
Whenever Renea trains her beloved Rav4, the problem lifts her head. The car infotainment features are prohibited, forcing it to buy a Dongle car adapter just to access the technology it should have at hand. It is a situation that pushes her to consider separating from her RAV4.
Renea knows that she cannot be the only owner of Rav4 with these problems, so she is looking for answers. She likes the rest of the car, but this problem with which she has been dealing for two years has now looked for a new car to replace it. She even thinks now that Toyota must hate Android.
She even had to get rid of her Android, which she loves, and buy an iPhone, which she hates. His frustration with Toyota is obvious.
Here is Renea’s story.
“The entire infotainment system in the 2019 models is essentially useless,” she deplores with a shade of disappointment.
“There is no longer any event, and Toyota does not update it. I have done endless research in the last two years and I am very disappointed to have bought the vehicle. I had to buy a wireless dongle car adapter to connect to the bluetooth of my iPhone to have a way to use certain functions on the screen.”
“I also bought an iPhone that I hate with passion. However, I have had it for two years, and now I don’t even know if I would remember how to use an Android again, but I’m ready to try.”
“The Entune suite says that it needs an update, but Toyota does not update it. I bought my vehicle from an individual, I am sure that I have no idea of these problems. Frustrated is an understatement at this point!”
“I was so excited to have this vehicle and I loved it so much. I do car shopping and here to see if the new models also have Android problems.”
“If someone with a 2019 RAV4 has better knowledge or information about my dilemma, let me know.”
Is there a solution to the Renea problem?
The Toyota Rav4 2019 is not equipped with factory with Android Auto. Although it has Apple Carplay, Android Auto was not a standard feature before 2020. Some users have found bypass or upgrades to activate Android Auto, but this is not a factory feature.
Here is a more detailed ventilation:
- No Android Auto factory: The 2019 RAV4 did not have Android Auto as a standard functionality.
- Apple Carplay is standard: Apple Carplay was included in the 2019 RAV4, but not Android Auto.
- No official update for 2019: Toyota does not have an official software or renovation update available to add Android Auto to the 2019 model, according to several threads on Reddit and R / Rav4club.
- Bypass / upgrade solution: Some users have explored the use of third -party devices or adapters to imitate Android Auto, but these are not official solutions.
- Toyota dealers: Some Toyota dealers can offer upgrades or changes, but these are not standardized and may involve additional costs, according to R / RAV4Club.
- Wireless adapters: devices like Aawireless can be connected wirelessly to the Rav4 head unit, imitating an iPhone to allow an Android automatic functionality.
What do other Rav4 owners say?
Reddit The user Nnyslippers25 says: “It was a boring thing when I bought my RAV4, that Android Auto was not taken care of. I head to the service this weekend and I asked questions about it. They said they could activate it / Update the system to allow Android Auto.”
“They always seem to think that they can update / renovate the computer display software to support Android Auto.”
“The technicians and the service services finally realized what I asked for and confirmed that Android Auto had no update or renovation. They thought (despite prudent explanations) that I was talking about an Entune 3.0 multimedia update to use the Toyota + Alexa application.”
“However, there is no official update / update of Toyota for Android Auto.”
More recently, Reddit The inevitable user said, “I finally updated the firmware of the infotainment system, and now Android Auto works. The Toyota dealer had promised it five years ago, but I would never do it. I found the firmware and I did it myself. Apple because Play is also taken care of, but I have not tested it.”
“You will need a 32g USB stick. He’s a game changer!”

Andrea also asks if the new RAV4 models have the same problem.
Do 2020 Toyota Rav4 and more recent RAV4 models have Android connectivity problems?
Some Toyota Rav4 2020-2024 models have encountered problems with Android Auto Connectivity. Reddit Users say that these problems can manifest as incoherent or failing connections, including cases where the system does not automatically connect when the car starts, or requires manual activation in the car infotainment system.
The owners have reported that Android Auto only works (connects at all) 50% of the time.
Michty6Ty6 says: “Android Auto only works (connects at all) like 50% of the time with my 2024 RAV4. For example, I can lead to the store, and it works well. I stop, take a coffee and I come back in the car 2 minutes later – the same phone, the same everything – and it no longer works (it happens all the time).”
Conclusion:
Renea and other owners have options, but unfortunately, there are no easy solutions to the 2019 RAV4 problem, and even some more recent Toyota Rav4 models have Android automatic compatibility problems.
