If you have pulled Instagram today and you’ve looked at the freeze when you have hit a coil, you are far from alone. Android users on Reddit and X report widespread planting since yesterday, the application does not respond each time they have tried to access any video content.
The problem appears the most serious when opening the coil tab directly, by clicking on coils sent by friends or by pressing video publications in the main flow. Users said they tried the usual troubleshooting steps – Erase the cache, reinstall the application, even change accounts – only to see the same frustrating gel and Crash happen again.
Here is what seems to work for affected users. The most reliable solution is to leave the Instagram beta program if you are registered. Head to the Instagram page on the Google Play Store, scroll down to find the Beta Test section and withdraw. After departure, wait for about 5 to 10 minutes, then uninstall Instagram completely. Force Stop the Play Store application, reopens it and reinstall Instagram to make sure you get the stable version rather than the beta version.
Some users who were not officially in the beta program succeeded by abandoning the “Early access to functionality” Communicate in Instagram settings before uninstalling and reinstalling. A handful of people said that joining the beta program has actually solved the problem for them, although it seems less consistent.
If the beta correction does not apply to your situation or if you have trouble leaving the program (some users receive error messages when you try to withdraw), downloading an old APK version of Instagram can also work. Installation of version 399.0.0.51.85 of September 23 A would have has resolved the crashes for some users.
A creative bypass Pending a permanent solution: open the rolls via your notifications tab instead of the main roller section. If someone liked or responded to your comment on a coil, press this notification should allow you to access and scroll the videos without triggering the crash.
Hopefully Instagram will solve the problem with the next version. And speaking of updates to come, the platform is also preparing for a major user interface renovation. You can read all the details here.
