Apple sprinkled the features of AI in its devices via Apple Intelligence and iOS updates. These features were mainly fun and pleasant additive tools, such as Genmoji, cleaning on photos and natural language research in the photos. However, Apple’s latest feature, which is still under Wraps, targets a major point of pain for users – their phone battery.
New Apple Intelligence feature in iOS 19
Earlier this week, the Bloomberg correspondent and Apple Watcher Mark Gurman reported that Apple worked on a new Apple Intelligence feature to help the batteries of user devices last longer. According to sources close to the question, the functionality should be published with the iOS 19 Apple update, scheduled for September.
NEW: Apple is preparing a new Apple Intelligence feature for iOS 19 coming this fall – a mode of optimization of the battery powered by AI to extend the life of the battery. This will be particularly intended for the air of the iPhone 17, which will use the functionality to compensate for a smaller battery. https://t.co/twdzluclbd

The optimization function fed in AI would learn the habits of use of a person’s devices through the data of their battery and makes adjustments to keep energy, such as predicting power reduction for specific use cases. The functionality also predict how long it will take to load a device and display this estimate on the lock screen. Apple did not respond to a request for comments.
One of the many additions to coming AI
Apple’s motivation to create the functionality probably stems from the planned iPhone 17 air release, which is designed to have a thinner and lighter form factor than the rest of the range. However, the thin design will probably be delivered with a smaller battery. For example, Samsung recently released its ultra-thin Galaxy S25 edge, which has a 3,900 mAh battery, 100mAh less than the smallest S25 galaxy.

This feature is only a many added additions that Apple would develop for its Apple Intelligence suite. For example, according to another Gurman report, Apple works on a completely overhauled health application with an AI agent intended to reproduce the ideas that a doctor provides on the basis of biometric data.
Functions confirmed by Apple are also expected in the future, including Siri 2.0, which will be based on personal information and context, and carry out actions for users. It will also make Siri more conversational, allowing a more human conversation, a highly requested upgrade. However, Apple has shared that this advanced functionality takes more time than originally planned, and it now plans that SIRI upgrades will take place during the coming year.

According to the report, the beta iOS 16.9 version should be completed by the end of May and launched to developers of the Global Conference of Apple developers next month. It will then be published to the public in September alongside the last deployment of the iPhone.
