This is not what I would describe as a daily nuisance, but from time to time, I have to copy part of a text message. If I’m on my Mac, it’s not a problem, but if I use my iPhone.
The way it works in iOS 18 is far from intuitive. When you interact with essentially any other piece of text, including those inside the photos – I see a cursor that allows me to select the words I want, followed by a small contextual window to copy it. This is not how it works in messages. On the iPhone, my only option is to copy the entire message. If I want to modify or reduce the text, I have to do it after having stuck it.
This changes in iOS 26. As macrumors have spotted, when you press a message, you will get a cursor that will highlight the text you want as well as an option to copy a game. Then you can take this little text and paste it in the application you want.
It is not a revolutionary feature, of course, but it is the kind of small improvement that will make our iPhones a little better in iOS 26. In fact, you can try it very soon, because Apple should publish the first public version this week.
