For the first time, iOS 26 will allow you to save the screen of your iphone Or ipad In its full resolution, causing better quality and more beautiful screenshots.
The screen recording was introduced for the first time with iOS 11, finally providing an easy way to capture what is on your screen without using a computer. Since then, the resolution of these records has been limited to a maximum of 1920px in height or in width. This means that all modern iPhones have recorded at 884 × 1920, which on an iPhone 16 Pro Max is only about two -thirds of the complete resolution. Of course, it resulted in a low resolution video that looked compressed and blurred.
With the latest beta version of iOS 26, however, the screen recordings have been upgraded to record in full resolution of your device, which leads to a much clearer recording.
Comparison
Before this change, the screen recordings on an iPhone 16 Pro Max were recorded at a resolution of 884 × 1920. Now, with the latest beta version of iOS 26, they are saved to 1320 × 2868, which is sound Full screen resolution. This upgrade of resolution and quality is better shown through images:
Despite the increase in resolution, file sizes remain moderately similar. A 12 -second screen recording of the same screen content was 24.2 MB on iOS 26 Beta 6, up 5.3 MB of 18.9 MB on beta 1.
Final reflections
For my part, I am very happy to see screen recordings finally be captured at full resolution. I often use screen recordings during the development of applications, and the lower quality can make it difficult to see finer details.
In addition to these upgrades, iOS 26 will also provide several other screenshot and screen records features, such as the possibility of saving in HDR, an option to deactivate Carplay screenshots and visual search. iOS 26 is available in public beta and should be released in the coming weeks.
