iOS 26 includes these five smaller features that you may have missed


While dust is starting to settle on the first beta version of iOS 26, we continue to take a closer look at the new features when updating.

Below, we are recaping five smaller changes that you may have missed.

Emoji game

Apple News + subscribers in the United States and Canada can play a new Emoji game, which takes players with words and sentences with Emoji.

This is the fifth game available with an Apple News +subscription. The others are crosswords, mini crosswords, quartiles and sudoku.

Time via satellite

IOS 26 will offer the weather through the satellite, allowing you to see information on weather forecasts up to date outside the Wi-Fi or the cell range.

This functionality is referenced in the code for the first beta version iOS 26, according to Macrumors Contributor Aaron Perris, but he is not yet live.

Look for this functionality to activate in a subsequent beta iOS 26 version.

Personalized ringtones

IOS 26 allows you to define personalized ringtones on the iPhone without using the Garageband application.

To define a personalized ringtone on iOS 26, open the File application and press an MP3 or M4A audio file which lasts less than 30 seconds. Then press the Share button in the lower right corner of the screen, press Plus on and press Use as a ringtone. Then, this audio file will be listed as a ringtone option in the Settings Sets & Haptics → Ringtone application.

Apple continues to sell 30 -second song ringtones for $ 1.29 each via the iTunes Store application.

Digital passport

IOS 26 allows you to create a digital version of your American passport on your iPhone.

After creating a digital ID, the Apple Wallet application, depending on your American passport, you can present it in person at certain TSA control points for identity verification during domestic trips. However, Apple says that it is not a replacement for a physical passport, and it cannot be used for international travel and border purposes.

Apple says that the digital identification functionality is secure, private and in accordance with a real ID.

Digital identification based on passports can also be used for age and identity verification in applications, online and stores, according to Apple.

“Select” in messages

A new “select” option in the messages on iOS 26 allows you to select and copy part of the text in a message bubble in a conversation.

On the anterior iOS versions, you can only copy an entire message bubble.
