In July, Apple sued popular YouTuber Jon Prosser and his acquaintance Michael Ramacciotti for alleged theft of the company’s trade secrets, after Prosser leaked some details about iOS 26 in videos uploaded to his Front Page Tech YouTube channel. Earlier this week, Prosser said The edge he has been “in active communication with Apple since the beginning of this matter”, although Apple’s lawyers indicated that he had missed the deadline to formally respond to the complaint. The court entered a default judgment against Prosser last week, citing his lack of response.
“The idea that I’m ignoring the matter is incorrect,” Prosser said. “That’s all I can say.”
In a court document filed Thursday, Apple’s lawyers said they knew Prosser had “publicly acknowledged” the complaint. However, they said he “did not indicate whether he would file a response or, if so, when.”
As for Ramacciotti, Apple said it has agreed to respond to the complaint by October 29.
In a statement filed with the court, Ramacciotti’s lawyers said he was “not a professional leaker” but rather “a lifelong Apple fanboy who did not fully appreciate the value and proprietary nature of the information he learned about iOS 26.”
Ramacciotti had “no intention of monetizing this information” when he contacted Prosser, they said.
Apple is concerned that Ramacciotti “intentionally deleted relevant evidence,” including “several hundred thousand text messages,” after the company informed him of the need to preserve the evidence on July 23. His lawyers disputed this assertion.
Apple and Ramacciotti informally discussed a possible settlement, and those talks were “ongoing,” according to the court filing filed Thursday.
