Apple has deployed several developer and public beta cycles for its iOS 26, and the new software should be presented on the iPhone 17 series next month, followed by a public deployment. While Liquid Glass and Apple Intelligence were the city’s speech when Apple revealed for the first time iOS 26 at WWDC 2025, the new operating system also has much more to offer, as we have seen with several beta updates so far.
One of the key applications obtaining an update in iOS 26 is the messages, which obtains a number of new filtering options, most of which aim to target spam and unwanted texts. However, there are also filters that are even more useful – one of which is a new dossier of drafts.
The filter appears via a new filter button located in the upper right corner of the screen and includes sections such as messages, spam and recently deleted. However, when users have a conversation with a partially written message, they will also see a draft filter in these settings.
By clicking on the new filter, messages apps list all conversations with partial messages, which users can revise and finish.
When one of the filters in the messages application is active, the toolbar gets a prominent blue shade to ensure that the user does not forget that they only see a subset of messages. The tapping on the deleted button again the selected filter and gives users access to the full reception box.
In particular, Imessage has never had a functionality of drafts of drafts so far, which meant that if you started to type something in a conversation and to retreat, the text remained in this conversation, and the only way to see it was to manually scroll your discussion list.
The introduction of the functionality of the drafts allows users not only to filter conversations, but also to take their time to think about a message before sending it.
The modification of the messages application arrives at a time when Google added a certain number of features supplied by AI to the default messages application and the Gmail application on Android, by blowing them and limiting Apple software.
For example, Gmail and the messages app on Android have had a project functionality for some time. Meanwhile, Google has recently deployed a new messages that allows users to delete RCS even RCS messages from the recipient’s cat, similar to the “Delete for everyone” feature on WhatsApp.
