For years, you have been able to take a screenshot from your Carplay display by taking a screenshot on your iPhone. Although this feature can be practical, most of the time, it is quite boring, especially if your iPhone is connected to Carplay (so you are in your car), but you want to take a screenshot only from the screen of your iPhone.
For this reason, many people can end up having a lot of unnecessary screenshots in their photos. GOOD, iOS 26 is here to repair this little embarrassment.

Carplay screenshots are actually disabled by default in iOS 26. When you update iOS 26Taking a screenshot on your iPhone while being connected to Carplay will not automatically capture your Carplay display.
In case you want the ability to restore, you can activate it from the Settings application. To do this, you must go to the general, then press “screenshot”, then switch to the new option “Carplay screenshots”.
I think it’s a small, but very welcome change. This shows that Apple listens to the comments, even on the little things that can become boring over time. Most people probably don’t need screenshots of their Carplay screen, so deactivate it by default is logical. And for those who want it, it is always easy to retreat. It is a thoughtful adjustment that helps keep things simpler and cleaner for everyday users.
