IOS 26 is one of the biggest updates in the history of the iPhone. The new version brings the theme of long -awaited liquid glass to all supported iPhones. Ipados 26 brings the same design to iPads. Before updating your iPhone (or iPad), here is what Apple wants you to know about any potential impact on battery life.
On September 15, the day of the iOS 26 version, Apple updated its page entitled “About Apple software updates”. The company explained why software updates are important for all the devices and the new updates they provide.
There is a section of the page that talks about battery performance and lifespan. Apple informed users that when upgrading their iPhone or any other Apple device to the latest version of a major version (like iOS 26), there could be a significant decrease in the battery life.
However, it was not supposed to be a permanent problem. Apple said: “This is normal because your device needs time to finish the background configuration process.”
Users who update their iPhone to iOS 26 should not be too worried if they see a drop in battery life at first. Once the substantive work is completed, the device should bring back the same endurance level while offering a transparent software experience.
The iPhone 17 series and the iPhone Air will be shipped with iOS 26 of the box when sales start on Friday, September 19.
