IOS internal code references cite new generation fleas for the next Apple devices

A new leak said that many of Apple’s new generation chips are on the way to future iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV and HomePod Mini devices.

According to MacRumors, an individual in China has downloaded a YouTube video (with English subtitles) from an alleged engineering prototype of the iPhone 16 from last year. The device is supposed to execute an internal construction of iOS 18 from March 2024, but it is a non -UI version, which means that you cannot load the home screen or other interfaces.

Several code references within the internal functionality iOS 18 builds both code names and identifiers for the Apple chips to come, including the following devices:

  • A19 chip for iPhone 17 air, and probably iPhone 17th
  • Puce A19 Pro for iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max
  • Chip M5 for the MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, Mac Mini, IMAC, iPad Pro and Vision Pro
  • Chip M5 Pro for the MacBook Pro and Mac Mini
  • Chip S11 for Apple Watch Series 11, Apple Watch Ultra 3 and Apple Watch Se 3
  • Modem C2 for the iPhone 17th, probably the entire iPhone 18 range, and more
  • Proxima, the code name for a brand new Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chip designed by Apple for the next Apple TV and HomePod Mini models and more and more

The “proxima” chip seems unknown and interesting. The unit was reported for the first time in 2024 by Mark Gurman de Bloomberg, who noted that it would be included in the new Apple TV and HomePod Mini models launched later this year. It also expects that at least some iPhone 17 models use the chip, as well as future iPad and Mac models from next year.

The Proxima chip is considered something that could help Apple go from Qualcomm for iPhone modems, and the wi-fi and Bluetooth chip provided for the company will allow it to replace a chip currently supplied by Broadcom. The Apple chip should support the 6th Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi 7, which would be an upgrade for the Apple TV (currently on Wi-Fi 6) and the HomePod Mini (currently on Wi-Fi 4).

Stay listening for more details as they become available.
