Despite the use of a Samsung as a main smartphone, I really liked using my pixel as a sidekick. Admittedly, it is a Pixel 8, so it does not have the most recent and larger features in the Pixel 10 series, but having access to Android 16 was a joy. The software is fast, cheerful and clean, but there is a reason why I opt for the Galaxy S24 FE as my main device. I still lack a lot of software features when I use the pixel on the galaxy.
Modes, routines and good locking are high on this list, but the Stock File Manager would be my biggest problem if I was constantly going to pixel and was limited to stock applications. This does not mean that Google files are a bad application; It’s just that Samsung my files are much better. Here is why.
What is the best file manager?

Have a NAS? My files know what you need

My files are not the most inventive signage plate, but the Samsung application is surprisingly powerful preinstalled software. If you have a NAS or a file server to which you access regularly, you will want a file manager who can go there, and the application of Samsung does this work better than the pixel files by Google.
Thanks to its network network management extension, my files can connect to FTP servers and other network stores via SMB. The addition of these locations is easy thanks to the integrated assistant, which scans the network for potential actions. Once I selected my NAS and added my identification information, I could browse the sharing of my network in less than 30 seconds. Navigation on my sharing on my files was faster than most third -party file managers. The navigation between network directories was without lag and cleaning the videos with the integrated reader was fluid.
I don’t want to miss the best of Android authority?
What about Google files? The default Pixel file manager does not offer network storage options. Both applications can connect to cloud storage, allowing Google Drive access, but they are all Google Offers files for remote storage. My files also give access to OneDrive, which is ideal for Windows users.
Smarter research and reminder

My files win another battle on Google’s file manager in a category where the latter should excel: research.
File search is often frustrating, especially on mobile. Ironically, Samsung beats the research giant when searching for documents buried deeply in my internal storage. With my files’ Search inside files Option, I can look for specific words in PDFs and other documents, not just their titles. This is important, especially if you have many dense documents of the text.
File search allows you to find documents using more than generic and confusing file names.
I used this tool to find a specific invoice, but I did not remember its title. I remembered that he understood the tax details, so I wanted “tax” and the document appeared. I tried this with Google files using the same file and the same search term, and that did not work.
When browsing the files, I find that my files offer a better experience thanks to its Brindcrumb menu. If I am at five depth directories, I can skip as many steps as I want by pressing the directory in the wire menu. Google files do not have this feature, so it requires several rear taps to navigate.
Google Files always wins in certain areas

Although I can rent the Samsung default file manager, it’s imperfect. In many cases, Google Files beats my files. A clear advantage is its safe file, which can be locked with a pin or a pattern and includes any content that you want to hide. This file can also be hidden from the application, which makes it really private. I did not find an equivalent feature in my files.
Then there is direct access to the share and scanning of Google. You can access both by pressing the shortcuts at the bottom of Google files. I like this feature, because I regularly share files between the devices. Although I am not a massive fan of Google’s digitization functionality, it is useful for those who do not want to find a dedicated scanner application.
Google files offers smarter storage tools, especially for Google Photos users.
I would say that Google files offer smarter storage tools, especially for Google Photos users. It offers an automatic image cleaner that releases storage if it detects copies in photos – practical for phones with limited storage. My file storage management tools are more impressive, but Google files are foolproof and less intimidating.
Finally, I find that the files by Google an application more visually attractive. Material 3 expressive makes the file manager completely a spectator when associated with the right colors. It is clean and uncompromising, and the horizontal animation of the scrolling accordion is a visual treat.
The botter? I would always choose a third -party file manager compared to the two

Even if I like Google style files, I must admit that Samsung My files are the more accomplished stock file manager. It allows direct access to files beyond my smartphone, offers more innovative search capabilities, has an integrated Adept video player and facilitates the navigation of nested directories with its image menu. However, I still think that the two stock file managers are not alternatives.
Samsung My files and files by Google offer most consumers the basic file management tools and a little more in certain areas, but if you need more control and options, I would always recommend one of the most advanced file management applications for Android.
In the end, if I could not access a stock file manager on my pixel, I would like Samsung my files to take care of these particular tasks. Maybe Google could draw a design and inspire its Korean rival?
