Let’s go, it’s my new favorite card application

Earlier this year, I started to worry about my personal life linked to large technological companies, especially my Google account. And Google Maps was one of the biggest culprits. He had regularly changed a clean and reliable navigation tool to a congested mess filled with announcements. Worse, he was sitting at the heart of Google’s ecosystem and I knew that I had to find a real alternative.

I wanted something different. I went to get a navigation application that respected me as a user. It had to be simple and did not have to connect with a Google account. This research led me to Here we goA card application from Europe that offers a lot of what Google Maps offers but without all drawbacks. So I gave him a road test.

Which card application do you use?

My point of view here we go the performance

I installed here, we go from the Play Store on my Redmagic 10 Pro and AI connected to Android Auto without any problem. In the following weeks, I used it for the city of everyday by leading here to Ottawa and during a campsite trip to rural areas along Lake Huron, and I also compared it to Google Maps at each stage of the path.

I liked the We Go user interface immediately. It reminded me a little Waze; Everything has been well appointed and intuitive to find. Using it was even more child’s play. The advice shot by the return lap were clear and easy to follow, with large instructions arriving at the right time before a tour. The invites to the screen were large enough to read at a glance, and he had more Apple card atmosphere thanks to his friendly and refined interface. The track advice was about as good as Google Maps. There is a place in the region of Saint Laurent d’Ottawa that no card seems to be tackling, so I was not upset when we failed to put myself on the right track.

Overall, it was a pleasant card to use when driving. It did not go badly throughout Ottawa or my long six -hour journey to Lake Huron. That’s all I want from a card application.

Here we are going to have everything I needed

I used here that we are going in the same way that I always used Google Maps and Waze. Walk, transit, cope with traffic, etc. I paid particular attention to these features because I wanted to know how much they managed all those things I need in a MAP application.

The application had all the types of navigation that I expected from a modern card tool. For walking, we went there to do a surprisingly good job. The routes were precise and included useful details such as the search for pedestrian areas. He did not have all the paths marked, but once I made one, he was able to relaunch me.

The transit function has been struck or missed, but I blame it on the Ottawa transit system. Bus and train hours were up to date but did not live because Ottawa buses are never on time. Google Maps has the same problem. I did not use here, we are going to check the last -minute delays (for that, I used the transit application), but it worked as well as Google Maps to plan a trip in advance.

Traffic data

Traffic data corresponded to reality in Ottawa. This city was built for a much smaller population than the 1.4 million people it has now, and the fourth largest city in Canada faces a real traffic problem. Here we are going, we seemed to understand this. When he said there was congestion, there was congestion. He did not offer alternative tracks like Waze or Google Maps, so I just had to sit in the jam and move.

I have not tested it in small towns, so I don’t know if the same level of precision would keep elsewhere. This made me pass the medium -sized city of Orillia without problems on my way to my campsite, however, it is therefore a plus.

Points of interest

The results for companies and benchmarks were correct, at least every time I was looking for them. The application did not display the hours of the company, but it said “open now” or “closed”. Ideal for finding coffee.

The application withdrew the data from Trip Advisor and included customer notes, telephone numbers and websites. I found it less crowded than Google Maps, but I have not seen as many companies listed, especially more recent companies. The new Italian coffee that obsessed me in the Petite Italy of Ottawa was not yet on the map.

It also has 3D monument models. Here in Ottawa, it was the buildings of the Parliament, but I found that he had incredible details on the monuments of the whole world, from the Empire State Building to Taj Mahal.

Here is where the card failed

The biggest discomfort for me here we are going there was the directions of the voice. The default English voice of the application is a Stride robotic female voice that scared me every time it was triggered. There was no option to change it, so I just turned it off and I became purely visual.

It could also be slow in the loading directions. When I entered the instructions for a location, he would think for a moment or two before loading them. Not a break, but not as instant as Google Maps. In addition, track advice could use some refinement. He sometimes lagged behind just enough to create uncertainty when approaching a high density intersection.

Most importantly, the details of the card in rural areas lacked. Of course, it gave me the right roads, but it was just a blue line that discovered a white background. There were no companies, agricultural roads, lakes or anything else. At least Google Maps, for all its faults, never made me feel that I fell off the edge of the earth.

I could continue to use it

Here we will meet my needs in terms of privacy and simplicity. It was more than capable of managing my travel needs in a large urban area. For the outside of the city, I stood at Google Maps because I feel more safe with the rural directions of Google. But above all, we are going to let me travel without feeling as if I was an additional point of data for a large technological conglomerate, and it allowed me to take advantage of my reader a little more.
