In a new and dramatic movement, the meta-PDG Mark Zuckerberg makes the most aggressive movement in its AI Arm race. Zuckerberg now reorganizes artificial intelligence operations of the company by limiting the Meta Superintelligence Labs (MSL) in four distinct teams. As Business Insider reported, the company described this decision in an internal note from the newly appointed chief of Alexandr Wang. Internal email, sent by Alexandr WangThe 28 -year -old meta chief Superintendent Labs (MSL), describes a dramatic restructuring aimed at accelerating Meta’s pursuit of “personal superintendent” – AI who can surpass humans in intellectual fields. As Business Insider reported, the reorganization divides AI efforts from the company into four specialized teams – TBD LAB, FAIR, Products & Applied Research and MSL INFRA. However, another important update shared in the memo has revealed that almost all the senior leaders of the Meta AI ecosystem will now appear directly in Wang. This list also includes high -level hires like the former CEO of GitHub, Nat Friedman, who will direct the integration of products, and the veteran of engineering Aparna Ramani, who will supervise the infrastructure.
From the AI scale to the AI architect of Meta
Wang, founder of the AI SCALEAI startup, shared a daring mandate in order to accelerate Meta’s race towards superintendent. Its memo dissolves the group of foundations acted and redistributes its talent through the new structure, emphasizing speed, clarity and centralized execution. “Superintelligence is coming,” wrote Wang. “And to take it seriously, we must organize ourselves around the key areas which will be essential to reach it – research, product and infra”.The memo marks a clear consolidation of power and vision under Wang, reflecting Meta’s urgency to compete with competitors like Openai and Google.

The superintelligence arrives, and to take it seriously, we must organize ourselves around the key areas that will be essential to reach it – research, product and infra. We build a world class organization in these areas and have brought incredible leaders to advance the work.
As we announced previously, Shengjia Zhao will direct our research efforts as a chief scientist of MSL, Nat Friedman will direct our product efforts and Rob Fergus will continue to lead the fair. Today, I am pleased to announce that Ramani will move to MSL to direct the necessary infrastructure to support our ambitious research and Paris of product.
As part of this, we dissolve the organization of the AG foundations and pass the talent of this team in the right areas. Teams whose work is aligned naturally and serves our products will go to the Nat team. Some researchers will move to a fair to double our long -term research while the teams working on infra will go to the organization of Aparna. Anyone who changes teams will receive an update from their manager or HRBP today, if you have not already done so.
We make three key changes to our organizational design which will help us accelerate our efforts.
- Centralize the nucleus, fundamental research efforts in TBD Lab and Fair.
- Strengthen our product efforts with applied research that will operate on products focused on products.
- Establish a unified basic infrastructure team to support our research betting.
The work will approach four teams:
TBD Lab will be a small team focused on training and scaling large models to achieve superintendent through pre-training, reasoning and post-training, and exploring new directions such as an omni model.
Fair will be an innovation engine for MSL and we will aim to integrate and set up many research ideas and Fair projects in the larger model executed by TBD LAB. Rob will continue to direct Fair and Yann will continue to serve as a chief scientist for Fair, the two reports me.
The products and applied research will bring our research efforts focused on product development products. This will include teams previously working on the assistant, the voice, the media, the confidence, the incarnation and the pillars of the developers in AI technology. Nat will continue to direct this work that comes to me.
The MSL Infra team will unify the elements of the infrastructure teams of the infra and MSL in one. This team will focus on accelerating research and production of AI by creating advanced infrastructure, optimized GPU clusters, complete environments, data infrastructure and developer tools to support research, products and development of advanced AI. Aparna will lead this team that will come up.
Ahmad and Amir will continue to realize me to focus on MSL’s strategic initiatives that they will share more.
I recognize that the organization’s changes can be disruptive, but I really believe that taking the time to obtain this structure at the moment will allow us to reach the superintendent with more speed in the long term. We always work through updated rhythms and our model of collaboration between the teams, including when we will meet as a complete MSL organism.
Thank you all for your flexibility when we adapt to this new structure. Each MSL team plays an essential role and I am delighted to work with you all.
