Microsoft told Windows last that it would no longer be possible to download Outlook Lite on Android from October 6, 2025. After October 6, Outlook Lite will stop working on any day, and you will be redirected to the original Outlook application. But there is no specific deadline for when Outlook Lite will stop working.
Outlook Lite was officially released In August 2022 for those with slow internet connections and older Android phones. While at the start, Outlook Lite was only 5 MB, it is now at 17 MB and is replaced by the outlook of 107 MB (main version).
I was always skeptical about Outlook Lite for Android. Microsoft is used to publish new versions or variants of its existing products and abandon them after a short time. When Microsoft announced Outlook Lite, he made daring allegations on how he wants everyone with an internet connection uses his email service.
Microsoft has argued that a wide range of Outlook features cannot be used on all phones, and it is logical to develop a Lite version of the messaging application so that those who have the Internet and limited or slow phones can also use Outlook. Finally, this led to the development of Outlook Lite.
Look at the screenshot above that I captured on my Android phone. Outlook Lite is only 34 MB of storage use, which can go up to 100 MB. On the other hand, Outlook (non-book) remains between 1 GB and 2 GB.
But Outlook Lite was more than a stripped version of Outlook. Outlook Lite was updated for the last time in 2024 with the SMS support. This means that you can replace your existing SMS application with Outlook Lite, and it would do the job very well.
There is an SMS icon in the navigation bar, and when you press it, you can see all your SMS. Then you can answer as you would on an ordinary messaging application. This feature is not available in the Outlook Main application.
Another advantage of Outlook Lite is not a co -pilot integration. Unlike the main version of Outlook, the Lite version does not come with Copilot Junk.

But features like PST Outlook support are always very limited, and we don’t know when.
