The billionaire Musk brought an American legal action against the two technology giants in Texas, alleging that Apple eliminated the XAI of Grok in exchange for Openai, with which he has an agreement.
Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence startup, XAI, continued Apple and Chatgpt Maker Openai, accusing them of unleashing to thwart competition for artificial intelligence (AI).
The trial brought before a United States Federal Court in Texas said on Monday that Apple and Openai “locked up the markets to maintain their monopolies and prevent innovators like X and Xai from competing”.
The complaint filed by the billionaire said that Apple and Openai conspired to remove XAI products, including on the Apple App Store. “If it is not for its exclusive agreement with OPENAI, Apple would have no reason to refrain further in the X application and the GROK application in its App Store store,” said XAI.
The trial underlined that in June 2024, Apple and Openai announced that they would integrate Chatgpt into the Apple operating system in the context of an exclusive arrangement.
“The exclusive arrangement of Openai has made chatgpt the only chatbot generator of integration integrated into the iPhone. This means that if users of the iPhone want to use a generative AI chatbot for key tasks on their devices, they have no other choice than to use Chatgpt, even if they would prefer to use more innovative and imaginative products like the XAI GROK”, said
Apple holds 65% of the market share of smartphones.
The technological giant of Silicon Valley and Openai did not immediately respond to requests for comments.
Earlier this month, Musk threatened to prosecute Apple, based in Cupertino, California, saying in an article on its X social media platform that Apple’s behavior “makes IA IAI in addition to OPENAI to reach No. 1 in the App Store”.
Apple’s partnership with Openai has joined its AI Chatgpt platform in iphones, iPads and Mac computers.
“This is a remarkable affirmation given what I heard that Elon does to manipulate X for the benefit of itself and its own companies and affects its competitors and people he does not like,” said Sam Altman, CEO of Openai, in an article on X on the heels of Musk’s remarks earlier this month.
Musk has a long -standing story to pursue companies that are a scourge by his side. The billionaire continued several brands, including Lego and Nestlé, who ceased to publish on X in the middle of hostile rhetoric on the platform.
The Musk XAI acquired X in March for $ 33 billion to improve its chatbot training capabilities. Musk also joined the Grok chatbot in vehicles made by its electric car company, Tesla.
The Musk XAI was launched less than two years ago and rivals Openai on Microsoft back as well as with the Chinese startup Deepseek.
Musk continues separately Openai and his CEO Altman before the Federal Court in California to stop his conversion of a non -profit organization into a for -profit business. Musk co -founded Openai with Altman in 2015 as a non -profit organization.
Apple App Store practices were at the center of several proceedings. In a case during Fortnite Video Game Gawer Epic Games, a judge ordered Apple to authorize greater competition for the payment options.
At Wall Street, Apple’s stock does not meet the trial and is still up 0.6% for the day. OPENAI, however, is not listed on the stock market or xai. However, the other Musk, Tesla company, is up 1.2% at 12 noon in New York (4:00 p.m. GMT).
