Microsoft has released a second release candidate (RC) of the planned .NET 10 software development platform, including a new microphone permission for .NET MAUI (the cross-platform application user interface) and improvements to the Android mobile platform.
Unveiled October 15RC 2 is expected to be the final release candidate for .NET 10, following .NET 10 RC 1, announced on September 9. Developers can download .NET 10 RC 2 at dotnet.microsoft.com. The second RC comes with a commissioning support license. General availability of the production version of .NET 10 is scheduled for November 11 or shortly after.
For microphone authorization in .NET MAUI, the latest RC adds the Windows implementation of Permissions.RequestAsyncused to request and verify permission to access the device’s microphone. .NET MAUI also makes improvements to XAML source generation, including debugging temporal view inflation. Additionally, for .NET MAUI, edge-to-edge support for dangerous areas on the device screen has been added to Android via SafeAreaEdgesMicrosoft said.
