Netflix described the plans to deploy an AI generator research tool (GENAI) for iOS users as part of a Opt-In beta test during a technological event and produced yesterday (April 7).
The search tool uses OpenAi ChatPPT to help users search for content using natural conversational sentences.
Bloomberg said last month, the new research tool was already available for some subscribers in New Zealand and Australia.
The CTO Netflix Elizabeth Stone explained in a video that it begins to use Genai to create text, images and videos to improve the discovery experiences of members.
“We have long used AI to personalize the rich set of information that we provide on each title, including synopsis, illustrations and trailers so that members can choose something that corresponds to them,” said Stone. “Generative AI allows us to progress further, for example, by presenting our titles in more languages and places in the world, which is ideal for our members and ideal for the creators with whom we work.”
Netflix also plans to test a vertical flow for mobile users with clips of their best choices, which allows them to type to look at content, add to the visualization of lists or share with friends.
The streaming giant also updates its home page, which, according to Eunice Kim, would be “simpler, more intuitive and better represents the extent of entertainment on Netflix today”.
She said the company is reaching a global audience of more than 700 million users with “incredibly diverse tastes”.
