Nintendo Store app launches for iOS and Android

Nintendo finally has a mobile storefront for Switch games.

The Nintendo Store application was launched by surprise on Tuesday evening, available now on both iOS And Android. As the name suggests, it is simply a mobile application dedicated to tracking and purchasing games for the Nintendo Switch And Switch 2 consoles. You can sign in to your Nintendo Account, manage a wishlist, check sales, and much more. This more or less brings Nintendo into compliance with PlayStation And Xboxboth of which have had full mobile apps with digital storefronts for years.

“Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment” is very good. It’s also the most disappointing Switch 2 exclusive.

Oddly enough, the only problem is that trying to buy any game simply takes you to the Nintendo Store website in an embedded browser window, instead of including a custom purchase page within the app. Although Nintendo has never offered app-based purchases before, you to have I have been able to purchase games from the website on a mobile browser for years. This app cuts out the middleman needed to open Safari, I guess?

However, there is a pretty cool feature here: a comprehensive database of your gaming history in games on recent Nintendo consoles. If you log in to your Nintendo Account, you can not only see how many hours you’ve spent on a given game, but you can also see how long your individual gaming sessions lasted on a specific day of the calendar. This is how I learned that I apparently had a four hour session of Xenoblade X Chronicles earlier this year. This is news you can use, friends.

Hopefully the new Nintendo Store app will add more features in the future, including real in-app purchases.
