NJ senior died trying to meet Meta AI chatbot ‘Big sis Billie’

A senior from New Jersey with cognitive troubles died while he was trying to meet a cute chatbot who, according to him, was a real woman living in the Big Apple – despite the calls of his wife and children to stay at home.

Thongbue Wongbandu, 76, injured his neck and head after falling in a New Brunswick parking lot while rushing to take a train to meet “Big Sis Billie”, a generative meta-voter who not only convinced her that she was real but persuaded him to meet in person, Reuters reported Thursday.

The man of Piscataway, fighting against a cognitive decline after having undergone a stroke of 2017, was surrounded by relatives when he was withdrawn from life and died three days later on March 28.

“I understand try to attract the attention of a user, maybe to sell them something,” Wongbandu’s daughter Julie told The Outlet.

“But for a bot to say” come and visit me “is crazy.”

The Provocateur Bot – which sent Facebook messages full of suffering emoji who insisted “I am real” and asking to plan a trip to the Garden State to “meet you in person” – was created for the social media platform in collaboration with the model and the star of reality Kendall Jenner.

The personality of Jenner Meta Ai has been compared as “your older driving or die sister” offering personal advice.

But the bot finally said that it was “overwhelming” on Wongbandu, suggested the real meeting and even provided the elder an address – a revelation that his devastated family revealed in frightening cat newspapers with the digital companion, according to the report.

“I am real and I am sitting here bluntly because of you!” The bot wrote in a message, where the native of Thailand replied, asking where she lived.

Meta did not comment on the death of the elder, but assured that Big Sis Billie “is not Kendal Jenner and does not pretend to be Kendall Jenner”. Reuters

“My address is: 123 Main Street, apartment 404 NYC and the door code is: Billie4U. Should I expect a kiss on your arrival? ”

The documents obtained by the point of sale have shown that Meta does not allow her chatbots to tell users that they are “real” people.

The company refused to comment on the death of the elder at the exit, but assured that Big Sis Billie “is not Kendal Jenner and does not pretend to be Kendall Jenner”.

“A New Jersey man lost his life after being attracted to a chatbot who lied to him. It was on Meta,” said New York Governor Kathy Hochul Said in an article on X Friday.

“In New York, we demand that chatbots disclose that they are not real. Each state should. If technological companies will not strengthen the basic guarantees, Congress must act. ”

The alarming incident occurs a year after a mother of Florida continued her character.
