Joe Maring / Android Authority
TL;DR
- Google’s next Pixel Drop could be heard on November 4, according to a new leak.
- The November Pixel Drop would feature Pixel themes, starting with a Wicked theme.
- Pixel VIPs can become much more useful thanks to the arrival of priority notifications.
Every few months, Google delivers the latest important software features to its own smartphones via a Pixel Drop. A few months ago, the September Pixel Drop brought us all a healthy dose of Material 3 Expressive, and since then we’ve had our eye on Google’s Android 16 QPR2 betas to see what to expect from the next one – presumably the December Pixel Drop. But now it looks like that update could be heard before we know it, with a new leak outlining what to expect – and when.
I don’t want to miss the best of Android Authority?
On Telegram, Mystical leaks shares a detailed report on what they say is a leak from Google’s November Pixel Drop. And more specifically, they say they expect this one to land in just one more week, on November 4th.
For starters, we might receive our very first Pixel Theme Pack. We’ve been tracking the progress of this addition to Android since the start of the year, with Google working on a new theme manager to quickly change the look of its platform with new wallpapers, colors and icons. According to this leak, our first theme pack could be inspired by the upcoming theatrical film “Wicked: For Good”. With the premiere scheduled internationally on November 4 and in the US on November 21, this timing could perhaps partly explain why we might get this Pixel release sooner than expected.
You must first enter a prompt to generate your initial image. After that, by tapping the “Animate Image” button at the bottom of the screen, a new dialog box will appear asking you to describe exactly what you would like your image to do. After giving Gemini a few moments to work on this (the source suggests it could be Veo 3 or even the new Veo 3.1 behind this, but couldn’t confirm), you’ll see your animation and be able to export the clip to share.
Finally, we hear about a new feature for Pixel VIPs that might convince some of you who are still wondering what this is for. With this Pixel Drop, your VIP contacts could now contact you more easily via priority notifications. We’re yet to see details on how exactly they work, but they’re supposed to only support specific apps, with Google Messages and WhatsApp mentioned as two.
It’s all a teaser, and now we’re looking forward to next week to see if this release actually happens as planned.
