Now repair your iPhone even if it does not light up

Apple Beta 2’s iOS 26 developer is now live, and among the most important inclusions is a new recovery assistant – a tool designed to help users troubleshoot iPhones that will not need, without needing to connect to a computer.

This new addition allows users to diagnose and directly recover a defective iPhone, eliminating the need for a Mac or PC, which was previously essential for recovery operations.

Apple’s latest movement brings the iPhone closer to parity with longtime recovery options from Android.

The second version of the beta developer of iOS 26 and iPados 26 quietly presents the recovery assistant. According to beta documentation, the functionality helps to restart devices stuck during start -up or encounter OS level problems.

Users can now run recovery checks and apply fixes directly on the iPhone itself – a particularly useful update for those only count on mobile devices without access to computers.

This feature is also considered to be an extension of the previous Apple Peer-To-Peer recovery solutions, which allowed iOS devices to be restored using another iPhone or iPad. Unlike these, the new recovery assistant works independently.

Advice of this feature surfaced for the first time at the beginning of 2020, when the beta code referred to “recovery of the operating system” – a first attempt at wireless system repair tools. Later, in 2021, the references to an “Internet recovery” mode sparked speculation on Apple allowing direct resettlements of the system live for non -reactive devices.

With iOS 26, Apple finally implements this capacity expected for a long time.

Android has long supported recovery and safety modes for troubleshooting in the system. Manufacturers like Samsung and OnePlus have integrated advanced diagnostic tools into their devices.

Apple’s new feature brings the iPhone experience of Android together in this regard, minimizing dependence on external equipment for system recovery.

IOS 26 is currently limited to developer tests. A public beta version is expected in July, followed by a full version provided for the fall. The recovery assistant is included in the second beta developer, although Apple does not confirm when it is available for all users.
