Google TV has mostly taken the attention of Android TV, in particular with the major improvements in the operating system which slowly disappear from the old experience. Walmart has recently deployed one of the only updates Android TV 14 to date to some of its old devices, but has since removed the update.
After the updates of its Google TV-Power streamers, Walmart began to deploy an Android Android Android Android update on its 2021 streaming device. The update seems to have gone well for most people, although a handful has apparently encountered problems that left the device partially broken (or with broken features).
This is more than enough to press pause, which Walmart apparently did. Users found That the Android TV 14 update for Walmart streamer is no longer available for download, and that there was no communication around his return, leaving devices that had not already been updated on Android 12.
It is not unprecedented. Google also had to suspend the Android 14 update for Chromecast with Google TV a few months ago, and only started to deploy it this week.
But this is still notable, because Walmart had published one of the only Android 14 updates for Android TV, and now we are again. Hopefully, Walmart will push a fixed update earlier than late.
