Google simply dodged the rupture of some of its key companies, and it has an unlikely competitor to thank: OpenAi.
A federal judge ruled Tuesday that the rise in the generator made more competitive research, undermining the case of the Ministry of Justice to sculpt the Google Empire, which could have seen products like YouTube or Chrome becoming completely independent companies.
In the decision of the judge Amit Mehta on Tuesday, the rise in power of the generative AI caused by the Chatpt of Openai was mentioned several times for having made the research company more competitive than ever. This has weakened the case to radically restructure Google’s operations.
Justice Mehta wrote that although the generator has not yet moved Google, AI startups could “eventually change the situation”.

Earlier in August, Openai revealed This chatgpt is expected to reach 700 million weekly active users, compared to 500 million in March. The application of Google to Chatgpt’s response, Gemini, had 450 million monthly active users, said the CEO of Google, Sundar Pichai, in July.
Mehta also mentioned the boom of investments in AI stimulated by Chatgpt, which led to an “astonishing” rush of funding for AI startups whose products directly threaten traditional internet research.
These companies are in a “better position to compete with Google than any traditional research company for decades,” wrote Mehta. In addition, they move quickly to monetize their requests.
None of this would have happened if Openai had not launched Chatgpt in 2022. Curiously, the launch of Chatgpt was considered a moment of crisis for Google, which had been considered the main central IA before the arrival of Openai.
Google has since fiercely competed with Openai, launching its own chatbot, Bard, shortly after Chatgpt – and even largely using Chatgpt to improve it, an initiate survey discovered.
Google remains threatened by the new style of discovery of Openai. In May, Google’s stock sang after Apple said that research is shrinking because people use AI instead.
