Many companies focus on building robots or material components to help them move, Adherence objectsOr interact with the world around them, the Silicon Valley -based openmind is concentrated under the hood.

Stanford professor Jan Liphardt, the founder of Openmind, told Techcrunch that humanoids and other robots were there and were able to do repetitive tasks for decades. But now that humanoids are developed for use cases that require more human machine interactions, such as having a humanoid in your home, they need a new operating system that thinks more like a human.
“Suddenly, this world opens where machines are able to interact with humans in a way that I have certainly never seen before,” said Liphardt. “We believe here that it is not only a question of humans, but we really consider ourselves as a company which is a collaboration between machines and humans.”
Openmind unveiled a new protocol called fabric on Monday that allows robots to check the identity and share the context and information with other robots.
Unlike humans, machines can learn almost instantly, said Liphardt, which means giving them a better way to connect to other robots will allow them to more easily train and absorb new information.
Liphardt gave the example of languages and how robots could connect to each other and share data on how to speak different languages, which would help them to interact better with more people without having to teach each language by a human directly.

“Humans hold for granted that they can interact with any other human on earth,” said Liphardt. “Humans have built a lot of infrastructure around us that allow us to trust other people, call them, send them SMS and interact and coordinate and do things together. The machines, of course, will not be different. ”
Openmind was founded in 2024 and is preparing to send its first fleet of 10 robotic dogs powered by OM1 by September. Liphardt said he was largely believed to get technology out and iterate afterwards.
“We expect all humans who will host these quadrupeds very well, they will come back with a long list of things they do not like or that they want, and then it’s up to us to imitate very, very quickly and improve machines,” he said.
The company also recently raised a financing round of $ 20 million led by Pantera Capital with the participation of Ribbit, Coinbase Ventures and Pebblebed, among other strategic investors and providential investors.
Now, the company focuses on bringing its technology into people’s houses and starting to iterate on the product.
“The most important thing for us is to get the robots out and get comments,” said Liphardt. “Our objective as a business is to do as many tests as possible, so that we can very quickly identify the most interesting opportunities where the capabilities of robots today are optimally adapted to what humans are looking for.”
