After teasing it at WWDC, Apple will soon allow certain American passport holders to add their travel IDs to the Wallet application of the iPhone, allowing them to use a passport as a digital identifier on various services.

In recent months, the functionality has been presented as part of iOS 26, but when the software was launched last week, it was not available. Apple has changed its marketing equipment to say that it arrived at a later date. Now Apple has changed Label on its website Again. As spotted by MacrumorsIt is now read: “Digital ID will arrive later this year with us that American passports.”

Apple has not yet announced an exact release date for the functionality. It is unlikely that it is part of iOS 26.1, because the functionality is not available in the first beta version of the software, so it can be part of iOS 26.2.

Digital ID allows you to download your passport details on your iPhone, which you can use as an identification method in retailers or on certain online services. It will also work at certain TSA control points, so you can use it to travel to the United States.
