Samsung reveals when an IU 8 based on Android 16 arrives

Google once again confirmed that it planned to publish Android 16 in June, several months before the usual calendar. So, in this spirit, you may be wondering when Samsung will start to deploy its own UI 8 based on Android 16.

The answer comes directly from Samsung VP and the head of smartphones planning, Minseok Kang, in the video below (around 2:30 am).

Spoiler alert: this happens “this summer”. Now this can mean anything from June to September-ish, but it is good to see Samsung engage in a chronology, vague that it can be for the moment.

Given that UI 8 is delivered with much less overhaul than a UI 7, we hope that the promise of Samsung will be held and that the eligible devices will all be updated this summer, and that the debacle of the IU 7 version will not be repeated. Of course, only time will tell us, but at least we now have an idea of what to expect.

Before the general release, there will be the beta version – and the first beta UI 8 was recently supposed to arrive later this month.
