Samsung suspends Galaxy S24 One UI 8 update

Although Samsung began rolling out One UI 8 last month, the process has been far from smooth. Earlier this week, the manufacturer pulled the One UI 8 update for the Galaxy S22 series before bringing it back later. It looks like the Android 16-based update has run into issues again, this time with the Galaxy S24 series.

According to SamMobileSamsung removed the One UI 8 firmware for the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24 PlusAnd Galaxy S24 Ultra from its servers. The site notes that this currently affects Galaxy S24 models in Samsung’s home region of South Korea, with no word on whether there are plans to do the same in other markets.

If you’ve waited this long to download One UI 8 on your Galaxy S24 series, it probably shouldn’t worry you too much to wait a few more days. The One UI 8 update began rolling out in late September. So it’s unusual that the company waited this long to remove the software from its servers.

We haven’t encountered any major issues with One UI 8 yet

As SamMobile points out, South Korea is the only region where the One UI 8 update for Galaxy S22 models has not restarted. On the other hand, One UI 8 has resumed its rollout for the Galaxy S22 series (except Galaxy S22 Ultra) in other markets.

This suggests that Samsung may have identified a region-specific issue with the One UI 8 firmware for the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S24 series. In any case, since a large majority of users will likely have already updated their device to One UI 8, all they can do is hope that there won’t be any major issues with the software.

Fortunately, that doesn’t seem to be the case at the moment. Although some have problems reported Following the update, we are not seeing a large number of complaints online. Meanwhile, Samsung hasn’t shared many details about the reasoning behind updating the Galaxy S22 earlier this week, followed now by the Galaxy S24 series.

Given the quick recovery of the Galaxy S22’s One UI 8 update this week, we wouldn’t be surprised to see the Galaxy S24’s One UI 8 update follow a similar pattern.
