Alexandr Wang founder scale According to employees In a memo Thursday that he leaves for Meta, confirming reports earlier in the week about his departure and a significant investment of the social networking company.
Meta Pump $ 14.3 billion in AI on the scale as part of the agreement, and will have a 49% stake in the startup of artificial intelligence, but will have no voting power, said an AI spokesperson.
“As you have probably made from recent news, the opportunities of this magnitude often have a cost,” wrote Wang in the memo he shared on X. “In this case, this cost is my departure. It is the greatest absolute pleasure of my life to serve as CEO.”
The AI scale promoted Jason Droege, the director of strategy, to the role of the CEO. Droege was previously a venture capital partner at Benchmark and a Uber vice-president.
A small number of AI employees on a scale will also join Meta in the context of the agreement, Wang wrote.
A Meta spokesperson confirmed that the company had finalized its “strategic partnership and its investment in the AI scale.
“As part of this, we will deepen the work we do together by producing data for the models of IA and Alexandr Wang will join Meta to work on our efforts of in-allocation,” said the spokesperson. “We will share more on this effort and the great people joining this team in the coming weeks.”
Meta’s great bet on Wang is part of the CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s plans to strengthen the efforts of the AI of his business in the middle of the fierce competition of Openai and the Google-Parent alphabet. Zuckerberg made AI the absolute priority of his business for 2025, but has become more and more frustrated by his team, especially since the latest Meta version of his flagship models Llama Ai received a lukewarm response from developers, CNBC reported earlier this week.
Although Zuckerberg has traditionally placed long -standing employees at high -ranking positions, he decided that the Outsider Wang would be better suited to supervise the initiatives of the AI deemed crucial for the company.
The AI scale has a certain number of meta-rivals as customers, especially Google,, Microsoft and Openai. Meta is one of the largest customers in AI.
The IA scale spokesman said that the investment and hiring of Meta de Wang would not have an impact on the startup customers and that Meta will not be aware of any of his information or commercial data.
