A friend of the user “self-published a children’s book on Amazon”, they wrote, and “made a big announcement on social networks on his enthusiasm to start this new chapter in his life as an author”.
The newly self-published author also sent an SMS to the user on this subject, to which he replied: “When I can, I will completely buy a copy. What is the story? This seems funny.” (The author “has marketed it as a hilarious story to read at bedtime,” said the user later, “and the title has the value of the shock.”)
“Later, my husband saw the cover and was curious to know if he was generated by AI,” wrote the user. “I asked my friend who was her illustrator, and she said that she had used Canva Ai. Personally, I really didn’t care anyway, so I didn’t answer this message right away.”

After a few hours passed, the friend “followed why I asked.” When the user missed this text – “I was not on my phone, so I did not see it right away” – she sent another text, asking for something in the direction of “Are you going to answer or not?”
“I told him that I was just curious,” wrote the user, noting that they “did not want to mention that someone else [their husband] I thought it looked like AI, because I felt that it would appear to be rude. »»
The user summed up the author’s answer: “I already have a friend criticizing my book, then there is you – no congratulations, I just wonder about the work of art as if you were trying to find something negative. So why don’t be honest about the reason why you ask.”
According to the user, they replied: “Please calm me down. I cannot afford to buy your book at the moment. When people are proud of something, they generally like to talk about it, so I thought that asking questions was a way to show that I was interested.”
The author did not respond to the explanation, but her husband – a user colleague who made the post – later revealed “she was upset” that the user “did not congratulate him”.
“I was not really trying to minimize his new book – the first thing that came to my mind was to ask questions to show his support because I could not buy it,” wrote the user. “But now I wonder if I was involuntarily disdainful.”

Many highest responses to the user’s post Reddit have agreed that overall, they are not bad – especially because the new author used AI to create the book in the first place.
