If your Galaxy device is running One UI 8 (Android 16), you might encounter a strange issue with Android Auto. Several users report that the app disconnects from the car dashboard after a short time. This can be frustrating for users who use Android Auto to navigate and make calls while driving.

Several users confirm that everything was working fine before updating to Android 16. This suggests that the latest OS version may be causing the Android Auto issue. Last month, a Pixel 9 Pro XL user on the Google Community forum wrote, “When you try to connect to Android Auto, the car screen goes black for about 10-15 seconds and then says Unable to connect.”
While the Android Auto team is investigating the issue, it has also spread to Galaxy devices. In response to the same thread, Galaxy A35 and S23 FE users recently confirmed similar issues, claiming that Android Auto keeps disconnecting then reconnecting frequently. Even on our Galaxy S25 Ultra, we noticed frequent connection errors after updating to Android 16.
However, as 9to5Google points out underlinesthe problem does not appear to be widespread. Only a small number of Android 16 users have reported issues. As a temporary solution, you can uninstall Android Auto and then reinstall it. This may work for a few connections, but the problem returns often.
It’s unclear when Google will release a permanent fix for this issue. Meanwhile, Samsung continues to roll out the One UI 8 update to more eligible devices. As a result, more reports of connection issues with Android Auto may emerge in the coming weeks. On a more positive note, Google is working on a new Android Auto feature that will allow you to add widgets to the car’s home screen. This will make it easier to view information and control applications directly from the car screen.
