- A YouTuber is currently bending and deploys the Galaxy Z Fold 7 live on YouTube.
- The phone has already survived more than 180,000 times.
- The goal of youtuber is to manually fold the device 200,000 times and see if it survives.
Update: August 5, 2025 (22:14 pm HE): The Galaxy Z Fold 7 has now crossed 180,000 manual folds. The Youtuber has stopped bending and unfolding the aircraft to report its condition to 175,000 folds, and it seems that the phone speaker no longer works. However, the display, the hinge and everything else remains intact. The Youtuber also shared remarkable conclusions along the way. Between 6,000 and 10,000 folds, the youtuber said that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 has experienced a restart error. About 46,000 times, an creaky sound began to emerge from the hinge. After 75,000 times, an unidentified liquid has been seen infiltrating the hinge area. Despite these problems, the device has not shown any dead pixel on the inner display or any other problem.
Original article: August 4, 2025 (1:15 am HE): A Korean YouTuber Tech is currently putting the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 through an extreme sustainability test, the folding and the leaflet live on YouTube in order to hit 200,000 times. Yes, by hand. And no, we do not recommend trying this at home unless you have a lot of patience (and nothing better to do for several days). Honestly, it’s pretty nice that the Youtuber does the job hard so that the rest of us does not have to do it.
How does the Galaxy Z Fold 7 hold?
During the writing of this, the number of folds reached 113,368, which means that the Youtuber is probably one day to reach the 200,000 mark. It should be noted that Samsung officially evaluates the internal OLED panel of the Fold 7 of Z for up to 500,000 times in ideal conditions. However, fold it manually so that several times could take more than a week and probably the mental health of Youtuber. Aiming 200,000 folds seems to be a more reasonable target.
Along the way, the Youtuber stops at certain milestones to check how the phone takes place. At 95,000 folds, everything seemed normal. The display made colors correctly, the touch sensitivity was intact and components like the speakers worked well.
After hitting 100,000 times, a slight dusk sound began to appear when opening and closing the phone. Despite the noise, the interior display continued to operate without sparkling or visible damage.
At 105,021 folds, the screen was always fully functional, although the fold became significantly deeper.
Will this reach 200,000? We think it. Samsung used an ultra thin layer of 50% thicker (UTG) on the interior display of fold 7 to improve shock absorption. There is also a new high -content adhesive that links the OLED layers and, according to Samsung, offers four times recovery performance compared to previous materials. In addition, a high resistance titanium plate supports the screen. With all this and the results of the laboratory previously provided by Samsung, we believe that the fold 7 should survive the YouTuber test.
However, as the fold test is carried out manually and not under controlled laboratory conditions, it should give us a more realistic idea of how the repeated folding affects the device to be used daily.
If you are curious, you can always catch the livestream and see how the phone works in real time.
