Spotify has today submitted an update of the Apple application which will include information on the costs of the Spotify plan and the options to subscribe via the links without using the integrated purchasing system. Spotify will not need to pay for Apple costs when customers will subscribe to the service using other payment methods in the Spotify application.

Spotify said that it was “absurd” that it was not able to offer these “basic services” to customers before now, and that “significant parts of Apple anti -competitive barriers” have now been discussed, a change that has been “expected for a long time”.
According to Spotify, the decision could “unlock real opportunities so that creators constitute their business and share their art with fans via Spotify”. Publishers will soon be able to sell their audio books via the Spotify platform, for example.
Spotify, Epic Games, Patreon and other application developers submit updates in the App Store with external purchase options. Apple was ordered to allow developers to add links to external purchase options, “immediately”.
