Apple AirPods obtain new features via the iOS 26 update later this year, with studio quality audio recordings among the additions of portable devices. However, Apple said that three of the five features will be presented for Airpods in the next iOS update would be exclusive to the wearable audio using the H2 chip.
Earlier this year, there was a report that spotted AirPods obtaining a new feature on iOS 26 which would automatically detect its sleeping user and in pause the supports they distribute via portable devices.
The AirPods iOS 26 update obtains five new features
Apple shared a new press release This confirms a massive update to come on AirPod devices via the iOS 26 version expected this fall, with five new features to be appreciated.
The update arrives on all AirPods devices and offers the latest experiences to portable audio devices, starting with the Studio quality audio recording function which transforms high -quality microphone devices.
According to a report of 9TO5MACThe five features are as follows:
- Automatic break when users fall asleep
- Automatic switching for Carplay
- Studio quality audio recording
- Camera remote control
- Improved vocal quality on calls
One of the features mentioned by Apple is the Studio quality audio recording, which transforms the already high quality airpods microphone into an even excellent device for all recording needs. Users can take advantage of the vocal isolation function of the AirPods despite a noisy environment for recordings, and applies to different types of configurations.
This includes interviews, podcasts, singers and other types of content creation. Apple claims that thanks to this iOS 26 functionality for AirPods, users can benefit from greater sound quality for their needs.
Users can also use AirPods as a camera remote control when using integrated camera application on iPhones and other compatible third -party devices to capture images or videos. This can be done by pressing the portable audio rod for a long time. By pressing this rod again, would stop recording in video mode.
Some iOS 26 features on AirPods require an H2 chip
However, based on the latest version of Apple, the next Airpod features on iOS 26 have a socket. Some of these features require the H2 chip to provide experience to users.
As indicated by the 9TO5MAC report, three of these features are exclusive to AirPods devices with the H2 chip, in particular:
- Studio quality audio recording
- Camera remote control
- Improved vocal quality on calls
There are only two versions of airpods that have the H2 chip which feeds them. This includes AirPods 4 published in September 2024 and AirPods Pro 2, which was published for the first time in 2022, but saw other updates with the case of USB-C loading.
The AirPods 3 and Plus models, as well as the AirPods Pro, and the AirPods Max, would not obtain the three features mentioned above.
During the editorial staff, there are still no updates, additional reports or speculation on the question of whether Apple will publish a new portable audio in the form of AirPods Pro 3, which was published earlier this year for an outing alongside the iPhone 17 series.
